This ENGINEERING Sculpture is a new concept I am developing using plastic, acrylic and rubber as fabrication material compared to me traditional metal. This new public art area I have been working on allows the use of a plastic material that suggests color at a level that allows transparent layers and a beautiful new color pallet. This first relief sculpture dedicated to the ENGINNERING areas at Ferris state University also presents light as sculptural element. The technical term for this unique use of light is edge lighting. Edge lighting by design allows an engraved or etched image in the plastic sheet to be illuminated. This edge lighting technique presents a compelling opportunity to bring my drawing intensive personal narrative art into public art at a whole new story or image level.
